U.S. Upfitters sells and installs a multitude of products in the Commercial Truck and Van market.  When you buy a product from us, we are committed to working with you to extend the life of that product and not have to replace it every year or two.  In partnership with our industry leading manufacturers, we will use this “How To” series to give you insight on how to do that with a range of our most popular products.

Winter is coming…

U.S. Upfitters has 4 locations: Chicago, Washington, D.C., Denver and Milwaukee.  All of our install locations are known for their brutal winters, some more than others.  We only sell and install quality products that will power through those winters.  One of those products is the Lock Dog.

A freshly installed Lock Dog

Like everything, Lock Dog needs a little TLC to get through the winter months.  If you have had a lock dog for 1-2 years already or even if you have a recent install, it’s time to break out the lock lubricant to protect your investment. The tools needed are simple and the time it takes is miniscule to extend the life of your Lock Dog.  See below for everything you need to get it done:

  1. Buy 2300D Lock Lubricant – https://www.masterlock.com/products/product/2300D
    – If you have gotten a Lock Dog installed recently, you may find this in your front console:

If you have gotten a Lock Dog in the past, you can purchase Lock Lubricant at the above link.
  2. Squeeze lubricant hard enough to go into cylinder opening.

3. Place key into cylinder and turn 2-3 times.

4. Squeeze lubricant on the internal latch (Jaws) of the lock.

It’s that simple.  We recommend doing this every six months or as needed.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns about your product, you can call us 1800-377-5652 or email us at [email protected].  You can find out more info on Lock Dog by Cargo Van Lock Below:
